Sentient Blue Participates in Upstate Clean Energy Manufacturing Program and Joins Upstate Capital and CNYIBA.
SYRACUSE, NY: Sentient Blue, a startup hybrid microturbine company based in Syracuse, NY and Parma, Italy, has been growing substantially in Central New York since the company won the grand prize of $1 million through GENIUS NY, an accelerator based at CenterState CEO’s Tech Garden. The startup has hired 5 employees since April while recently naming its first COO located in Syracuse. Sentient Blue has created a hybrid microturbine for use in unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as drones. These turbines will increase flight time from about thirty minutes up to two hours. Sentient Blue will continue testing of the prototype in January 2020 and will deliver the first products to customers in approximately June 2020.
“Every day brings new excitement to Sentient Blue as we unlock the potential that Central New York provides,” said Saif-Deen Akanni, founder and CEO of Sentient Blue Technologies.
Sentient Blue is currently participating in the Nextcorps and Rev: Hardware Scaleup Program. This program selects start-ups from around Upstate New York to participate in a mentorship designed to assist start-ups in the production of manufacturing roadmaps for scaling prototypes into easily mass-produced units. The program encourages clean energy technology and building the economy in New York.
Sentient Blue is also now a member of Upstate Capital Association of New York as of early October 2019. Upstate Capital, a non-profit corporation, connects investors, lenders, advisors, and start-ups to develop business in the state. Through this membership, Sentient Blue will attend events around New York where it will pitch its innovative technology to investors. In response to Sentient Blue’s membership, Noa Simons, Executive Director at Upstate Capital, stated, “We are glad to have Sentient Blue in our membership, and we welcome them into our network of other rising startups, support organizations, professional advisors and capital providers.”
Lastly, Sentient Blue became a member of Central New York International Business Alliance (CNYIBA) in early October 2019. CNYIBA works to increase the international sales of businesses across Central New York by connecting companies with mentors and providing expertise and guidance in international markets, financing, and more. Through this membership, Sentient Blue will strengthen its knowledge of and ability to export turbines internationally while maintaining and growing its strong presence in Central New York.
Sentient Blue will graduate GENIUS NY this December and plans on hiring more staff for 2020 to continue to grow in Central New York at The Tech Garden. View available positions here. www.sentientblue.com.
